- Winter Portal - Has some fiction mixed in, but is largely based on the way certain things bring back vivid memories.

- Hurting People - Written while looking out the window of the car; published in a Voices.net anthology.
- Moon
- Unafraid - I wrote this after a dream in which I was martyred (by guillotine). This was one of my first ventures into free verse.
- Water - I wrote this after Ashley Steele "died." It took second place in the RHSA regional competition.
- Wind Chimes - This poem (which is actually a song) won first place in the RHSA regional poetry competition. The last line of the first stanza is taken from Psalm 88.

- The Kiddie Pool - For Stephanie Burkley's writing class. We each drew a random photograph and had to write a story about it. The photograph I drew was of a small wading pool with a bunch of cats drinking out of it.
2006
- Phones Are Better When You Don't Drop Them - This story was a project/experiment that I did with Melanie. We wrote parallel stories that began with the line "My favorite color has always been white."
