Winter Portal

Her name is Amy.
I named her that,
a long time ago.
Running my finger down
her cool china cheek,
she stares back at me
with unchanging blue eyes.

All over my face I rub
coconut lotion,
my mommy bought it for me
A long time ago.
It still smells like her,
so I rub it on my hands
and bury my face in them.

Ache, ache, hollow ache.

I try to fill it up
with gummy bears,
the kind I used to eat
with my sister,
a long time ago
when I didn't care
about being skinny.

I want to kill it all away--
my glass doll dressed in
silver and blue velvet,
my Vitamin C gummies
(I eat all but the green ones,)
and the sad, sad smell
of coconut lotion.
